Training can be accomplished in your airplane or ours. Aircraft, insurance, fuel, and aircraft maintenance are not inexpensive. I will always do my best to keep costs down and provide real value in instruction. The rate for one of our Tailwheel aircraft, all fuel, all instruction, and sometimes lunch, is 200/hour. That includes everything, usually more, with no other charges or fees.

A flight review (formerly biennial flight review) can usually be included in the price of a tail wheel endorsement. The average time to become proficient in a tail wheel aircraft varies, but according to the AOPA, it’s between 6-12 hours. You can count on a minimum of 5-6 hours.

Insurance companies will have their own requirements regarding "dual received" to provide coverage. Please check with your provider if that is one of the reasons for needing/wanting the endorsement.

To participate in the training, you must have an ASEL pilot certification, a medical certificate, and a photo ID. Additionally, please bring your logbook to record your activities leading up to the actual endorsement.

Options/Cost associated with the Tail Wheel Endorsement

The tailwheel instruction course, including the endorsement, is offered at a 3,300-foot, lighted, private grass strip. The primary requirement is a current ASEL certificate. Depending on your needs, you will have options on tailwheel aircraft. We will discuss your experience, course content, airplane choice, cost, and concerns.
